I’m not a Jack Link’s fan. I prefer local independent jerky brands with proper cuts of dried meat, not the processed stuff — you can see what I mean in my other jerky reviews. But when my son spotted the Mr Beast branding, there was no way we were leaving without it. He wants anything with that logo on it. No exceptions.
The hook here was a mystery flavour promotion with a chance to win a million dollars. You buy, you guess the flavour, you enter. I tried both jerky varieties, so I entered twice.
Yellow packaging
My son took one bite and declared it spicy. It really isn’t. I found it slightly sweet, which is my usual experience with Jack Link’s anyway. The yellow packaging had me thinking honey or lemon was involved somehow. Turns out it was Loco Taco’d Beef Jerky. In hindsight, there’s a mild warmth to it that could vaguely pass for taco seasoning if you squint with your taste buds.
Pink packaging
I was convinced this was a smoky bacon flavour. I even talked myself out of it, thinking bacon might be a bold call for a brand that isn’t Kosher or Halal certified, though that’s never stopped anyone before. The actual flavour was Butter Tikka’d Beef Jerky. Honestly, that’s a better answer than bacon. There’s a creaminess to it that makes more sense in hindsight.
There was also a Loaded Burger’d Beef Stick in the range, which I didn’t try.
The flavour naming convention is pretty silly across all three, and I’d be surprised if anyone nailed the exact spelling on their entry. A general theme was probably close enough.
I didn’t win. The draw was held on 30 April 2026, and the three lucky entrants were from postcodes 2611, 4211, and 3083. One of them is heading to Casino, NSW, in May for a shot at the million. Good luck to them.
As for the jerky itself, it’s fine. Slightly sweet, mild, and exactly what you’d expect from Jack Link’s wearing a costume. My son won’t be requesting it again, but I’d finish the bag without complaints.
